Biography
Dganit Sharon is the head of the nursing department at Ruppin Academic Center, ISRAEL. Her main research fields focus on nursing education with emphasis on ethical and moral aspects, developing teaching programs and nursing professionalism with emphasize on quality of nursing care, promoting human rights and empowering patients. Her interest in Emotional Intelligence arose after years of experience as R.N in the maternity clinical field, nursing educator, clinical mentor, and finally as the head of nursing department. She believes that Cognitive Intelligence itself is not sufficient for predicting whether the nursing student will succeed in his or her studies and become a professional nurse. As a nursing educator, there is a need to consider the emotional intelligence as an influencing factor on the students' studying success and furthermore on their ability to face the challenges of the real world as professionals.
