Osaka means "large hill" or "large slope". Osaka was traditionally considered Japan's economic hub, Osaka made not be as well-known, rich and flashy as Tokyo but Osakans will tell you that it is a more real, honest, friendly and earthy place with a deeper history and a richer sense of humour and fun. Many say it is the heart of Japan. The people little bit crude, inconsiderate and pushy at times, yes, but they are also more warm, open and generous. Many of Japan's funniest comedians are from Osaka. It developed into an important regional port, and in the 7th and 8th centuries it served briefly as the imperial capital.

Osaka is located in the humid subtropical climate zone, Osaka is broken up into districts and shopping and entertainment quarters like Umeda, Namba, Abiko and Tennoji, most of which can be reached by subway stations with same name. The heart of Osaka is divided into the northern end and the southern end. Midosuju is regarded as Osaka's main street.  Osaka's main entertainment is shopping and eating areas. A good list of restaurants is sometimes available from the tourist office and restaurant guides are sometimes on sale at bookstores and newsstands.

To be confident, it is a stylish city and shopping hub, with fabulous restaurants and nightlife. It's an ideal base for exploring the various regions: Kyoto's World Heritage Sites, Nara's temple and Koya-san's eerie graves are within 90 minutes by train. Finally, it is good place to enjoy and also stay for refreshment.
