The oncology nursing plays a vital role in coordinating the multiple and complex technologies now commonly employed in cancer diagnosis and treatment. The roles of the oncology nurses vary from the intensive care focus of bone marrow transplantation to the community focus of cancer screening, detection, and prevention. A Cancer and tumor nurse gives consideration to malignancy patients and those at danger for getting the malady. They screen physical conditions, recommend pharmaceutical care, and control chemotherapy and different medications. Oncology is a standout amongst the most difficult and compensating fields in nursing and no two days at work are ever the same. Basic thought and danger nursing is a thought transport system that support capable nursing practice. Inside Primary nursing, a helpful relationship is set up between an enlisted medicinal chaperon and an individual patient and his or her family.

Why Bangkok?

Bangkok is the cultural, economic and political capital of Thailand. The city features both old-world charm and modern convenience. Many visitors in Bangkok are overwhelmed by the sheer size of the city and the vast number of attractions it has to offer. Indeed, there are many sightseeing opportunities in Bangkok, spanning for more than two centuries of rapid development following the city’s founding in 1782. As Bangkok is considered a transport hub and a popular travel destination in Asia, we believe it would be beneficial to all the delegates who are attending the conference. The city grew rapidly during the 1960s through the 1980s and now exerts a significant impact among Thailand's politics, economy, education, media and modern society.

The nursing profession in Thailand is 100 years young. During this brief time nursing has evolved from a hospital-based, apprentice training model taught by male physicians, to the development of doctoral programs taught by nurses who are prepared at the doctoral level. The development of professional nursing has been influenced by Western countries, in particular by close alliances with the United States. As in the United States, obstetric nursing has been guided by the need to decrease maternal and infant mortality. The high rates of maternal and infant mortality caused the early integration of midwifery courses into the nursing curriculum.

Market growth of  Nursing Care Research in the last and upcoming ten years:

The past three decades have witnessed a remarkable growth in nursing Care development. In both Korea and the United States, nurse scientists are poised to address important issues related to the prevention and management of significant health care problems. The need for greater nursing Care development in the areas of self-management, genetics, and geriatrics, health promotion across the lifespan, technology, and mental health are briefly highlighted. Future research efforts will be enhanced by interdisciplinary collaboration and the creation of international nursing research centers. At the same time, we need to remain cognizant of the importance of mentoring future nursing Care.

Thailand has long been a destination for international patients, due to its high-quality medical facilities, well trained doctors and other medical professionals, and competitive prices; these factors taken together have made Thailand the leading destination for foreign patients and medical tourism.  Foreign patients numbered 2.35 million in 2013, and the number of foreign patients has grown nearly 11% (CAGR). Thailand features over 1,000 public hospitals, 300 private hospitals, and 50,000 trained physicians catering to medical procedures in a variety of fields.

In Thailand, there is one registered nurse per 477 population. 183,551 registered nurses and midwives are distributed in the Bangkok area with 24 hospitals, where else 9 hospitals and 19,899 registered nurses under Medical Service Department. The shortage of nurse in Thailand will remain until the future. It is evident from the demand from 2010 until 2019. However, there are only 146,890 nurses who still work in hospitals.

Relative to Asian neighbours and compared to global leaders, Thailand already has a large healthcare sector that is a leading priority of the Thai government.   Thailand ranks as first in the ASEAN group in public healthcare expenditures, with 14% of the Thai budget allocated to healthcare; this figure also rates comparably to South Korea and China and ahead of India.  Although large western countries outpace all countries in the region (the U.S. at approximately 17%, the U.K. at 9%), Thailand is in the fore of Asian countries in dedication to healthcare.

In many countries nurses and midwives constitute more than 50% of the national health workforce. Though globally, it is estimated that by 2030, the shortage of nurses and midwives will reduce from the current 9 million to 7.6 million, the shortage in the African and Eastern Mediterranean Regions will actually worsen.

Market Value on Pharmaceutical Research

The Thai pharmaceutical sector is another strong contributor to Thailand’s economy and is growing at an unprecedented rate.  Currently leading the ASEAN region, Thailand is expected to rank as the eighth-largest national pharmaceutical market in the Asia-Pacific region this year.  Thai universities, medical schools, government, and pharmaceutical firms are busily engaged at all levels of the pharmaceutical industry, from research and development through initial testing, clinical trials, to production and marketing.  The market has continued to grow in recent years and achieved 6.12% in annualized growth over the past five years. Thailand is an active participant in the international pharmaceutical trade, both as an importer and exporter, creating a wealth of opportunities for international firms in the sector.  The largest share of imports understandably come from U.S., Chinese, German, and Swiss firms.  Thailand’s pharmaceutical exports are concentrated most in the region, with ASEAN markets the majority and Myanmar, Vietnam, and Cambodia the biggest markets in the region. Thailand imported over $2.2 billion in pharmaceuticals in 2016, a considerable increase from $1.8 billion just two years ago. In 2016, over 65% of Thailand’s pharmaceutical imports came from the United States, Europe, and Canada. The Thai pharmaceutical market was valued at over $5 billion in 2016, making it the second largest market in Southeast Asia. The value of Thailand’s pharmaceutical market is expected to double by 2020. Pharmaceutical sales per-capita are also predicted to grow from $75 in 2016 to $125 by 2024. The value of the pharmaceutical market was estimated at $5.91 billion in 2015, and is expected to reach $9.47 billion in 2020, increasing at a projected CAGR of 10%.

Thailand medical tourism market surpassed US$ 4.6 Billion mark in 2016. Thailand, being a world leader in medical tourism, has world-class medical facilities with its high-profile private hospitals and clinics. Thailand has been one of the favorite medical tourism destinations for all over the world. This may be primarily due to the cultural heritage, state-of-the-art medical facilities, personalized hospitality and reasonable medical costs. Thailand’s medical tourism industry is likely to grow at an impressive rate primarily due to its expanding network of medical facilities catering to international visitors and proactive marketing by tourism officials. Southeast Asia’s medical and healthcare industry is progressing into a new era. The rising middle class, ageing population and unprecedented growth in healthcare technologies have contributed to the overall growth of the medtech sector. According to PwC, the rapid shift in dollars within the industry is altering the healthcare business.

  • Growth in average healthcare spending (2014-18) expected to be 11% of ASEAN’s GDP
  • ASEAN’s healthcare market valued at US$100 billion at start of 2017
  • Medtech market (in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand) is valued at US$3.6 billion
  • Wearables market to be worth US$25 billion by 2019

The positive trends in the healthcare market of Thailand can be attributed primarily to -

  • Increasing medical tourism
  • Increasing health awareness
  • Greater access to life-saving facilities

Thailand has given the healthcare industry top priority, as seen in the government’s expenditure on health care. The government spends14% of its total budget on the healthcare industry, which accounts for 4.6%of Thailand’s GDP; itis considered to be the highest among ASEAN countries

To strengthen Thailand’s position as the medical hub of Asia, the government’s support and increased demand in healthcare market have brought great opportunities for continual success in related fields including the medical services, pharmaceutical sectors and medical devices
